JAZZ PHOTOGRAPHY RECAP: Nearpass Large Ensemble Performs Ellinton's "The Nutcracker Suite" at JRAC by Harvey Tillis

December 18, 2024 - The Michael Nearpass Large Ensemble performed Duke Ellinton's jazz interpretations of Tchaikovsky's, "The Nutcracker Suite", at the Jazz Record Art Collective (JRAC) in the Fulton Street Collective (FSC) in Chicago. All tunes were arranged by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. Saxes: Lenard Simpson, Artie Black, Hunter Diamond, Alex Beltran, Alex Blomarz. Trumpets: John Moore, Quentin Coaxum, Drew Hansen, Chris Davis. Trombones: Chris Davis, Josh Torrey, Michael Nearpass. Lara Driscoll piano, Ashley Summers Baker bass, and Clif Wallace drums & cymbals. The evening also featured live painting from visual artist John Ross Wilson.
