JAZZ PHOTOGRAPHY RECAP: MJO Feat. Paul Marinaro Perform "The Bowie Project" at Fulton Street Collective by Harvey Tillis

MJO Featuring Paul Marinaro Perform "The Bowie Project" at FSC 11/18/24 -Nationally acclaimed singer Paul Marinaro and the Metropolitan Jazz Octet performed their unique, introspective, exciting interpretations celebrating a wide range of David Bowie's song legacy.

The musicians masterfully presented a career-spanning selection of songs such as Space Oddity, Changes and Let’s Dance along with early, deeper cuts including Conversation Piece and Letter to Hermione. The Bowie Project explores universal themes that resonate throughout the ages: love, loss, disillusionment, division and trying to find hope in a changing and unfamiliar landscape. Alto Sax/ Clarinet/ Alto Flute: John Kornegay, Tenor Sax/ Soprano Sax/ Flute: Jim Gailloreto, Baritone Sax/ Bass Clarinet/ Bassoon: Peter Brusen, Trumpet/FlugelHorn: Doug Scharf, Trombone: Russ Phillips, Piano: Bob Sutter, Vibes & Marimba*: Mike Freeman, Acoustic Bass: Doug Bistrow, and Drums/Percussion: Bob Rummage. Vocals were performed by Paul Marinaro. Visual artist Lewis Achenbach created original art in response to the performance.
