March 06 2025 - Video Game Music Night returned with a performance by the Blueshift Big Band at Fulton Street Collective, FSC, in Chicago. The evening opened with Crystal Rebone’s Trio playing her arrangements of video game music too. Crystal Rebone bass, Laura Driscoll piano, and Jim Buennig sax. The Blueshift Big Band includes Neil Carson, with rhythm: Joel Baer - drums / co-leader, Dan Parker - Bass, Brad Macdonald - Piano, Isaiah Eby - Guitar. Saxophones: Evon Sams , Karli Bunn, Gerald Martinez, Christian Sanchez, Abram Collier. Trumpets: Chuck Parrish, Sam Wolsk, Bennett Heinz, Juliette Gardiner. Trombones: Josh Torrey, Grant Dawson, James King, Pete Charles Isaac. Visual artist Jessie Burton created artwork in response to the music. Artwork on the wall behind musicians are paintings by Bria Bridges, Vanessa Abron, Sarah O’Neill, and Dawn Fry.

The Blueshift Big Band performance was amazing. The music was great and reminded me of the tune in Geometry Dash. Each level is designed with colorful backgrounds, flashing effects, and smooth animations that keep the gameplay visually engaging while maintaining clarity and precision.
