The 5th annual Deer Park Jazz & Wine Festival will be held on August 6 at the Deer Park Town Center and will once again feature a strong lineup of some of Chicago’s finest musicians. Kicking off the festival will be Delmark recording artist Guy King and his trio. King’s latest release, Truth, is moving up the charts and he is getting national airplay and coverage throughout the US and Europe. Following King will be the first lady of Chicago Jazz, Judy Roberts and her trio featuring veteran vocalist Wayne Messmer, performing music of the American Songbook. Following Roberts and Messmer will be saxophonist Shawn Maxwell and his quartet who will be performing music from his soon-to-be-released recording on Origin Records.
Finally, closing out the festival will be saxophonist Frank Catalano and Smashing Pumpkin drummer Jimmy Chamberlin’s Supergroup. Catalano and Chamberlin have released three recordings on Ropeadope Records and their latest release Bye Bye Blackbird, features saxophonist David Sanborn and is currently at the top of the Billboard jazz charts.
